Step 1

Head into your local hardware store to purchase heavy duty clear plastic film and double sided tape.

During checkout, remember to ask for a hardcopy of your purchase receipt for reimbursement.

*Note: Remember that eligible drivers will be reimbursed up to $25 and you will need to submit a photo of your receipt within 14 days of your DiDi Hero approval email.

Tips for buying materials:

  1. Measure the length (from one backseat window to the other) and height (from the ceiling of car to floor) of the backseat area of your car with a tape measure so you know how much plastic you will need.  A DiDi Express vechile will typically be at least 1070mm high and 1500mm long.
  2. Clear plastic firm: we suggest you choose the clearest and hardiest plastic sheet you can find. Please ensure you are buying a sheet big enough for your car.
  3. Heavy duty double sided tape: we recommend that you have double sided tape that is at least 4.5 metres long.

Step 2

Before you begin installing your Separation Screen, thoroughly wash your hands using an alcohol-based hand rub or with soap and water. Next, wipe down your car with an alcohol based disinfectant and wear a mask and gloves as additional safety measures.

Wind down the windows for ventilation after disinfection.

Step 3

Measure the length (from one backseat window to the other) and height (from the ceiling of car to floor) of the backseat area of your car with a tape measure.
You will use these measurements to cut out a rectangle from the plastic film which will form the separation barrier between the front and back seats.

Step 4

Measure and mark the dimensions of your backseat area on the protective plastic film using a pen or marker. Add a minimum of 3 centimetres of buffer on each side and cut the sheet to size.

*Note: Additional plastic material can be trimmed after the screen has been set up.

Step 5

Once the plastic film is cut to size, place one side of the double sided sticky tape across the sheet lengthways.

*Note: this will be the longer side of your rectangle.

Step 6

With the exposed adhesive side of the tape facing the ceiling of your car, carefully and gradually press the screen along the ceiling of the car. Finish connecting the tape across the entire backseat area of your car.

Tip: Work from one side of the backseat windows to the other and slowly connect the plastic screen across the ceiling of the car. Go slowly and carefully to avoid creating any bubbles or gaps in the top of the separation screen.

Step 7

Add strips of the double sided tape to the shorter sides of your rectangular plastic sheet. Continue to press the tapped separation sheet down the interior sides of your car (but not the windows or doors!). Next, connect the bottom of your separation screen to the floor of the car using small pieces of the double sided tape. This will complete the fourth side of the separation screen.

Cut away any excess plastic film that hangs off the edges of your separation screen.

Step 8

Print out the sign below and tape onto your plastic screen.

Step 9

Separation Screen complete.

Good job! Your Rideshare Separation Screen should look something like this.

Some important tips:

  • During installation, please take care to ensure the plastic film is not damaged and is tightly and firmly attached to the inside of your car.
  • We suggest you frequently disinfect the screen using disinfectant wipes or spray.
  • Repair or replace the separation screen if it gets damaged.
